My craft business is called Molly Coddle’s Kitchen & I create bespoke felt gifts from my home; Poundfield Cottage where I live with my Dutch husband. The name came from a love for my sunny kitchen, which is painted a fabulous shade of yellow & overlooks my tiny garden & veggie plot. You can find details about the gifts I create at my website www.mollycoddleskitchen.co.uk or my facebook page www.facebook.com/mollycoddleskitchen. I also have a blog, a Twitter feed & a Folksy Shop, all of which can be found through my website.
How long have you been in business?
In January we will be celebrating our second year in business!
What items do you sell?
I sell an ever changing range of small gifts, mainly made from felt which includes crayon rolls, hair clips & bands, coffee cosies and a collection of cult collected badges. A full selection of our current range can be found on Folksy.
Tell us about 2 of your favourite products or best sellers.
Our newest addition to Molly Coddle's is a range of kits you can sew yourself. The collection is called Take & Make and ranges from from £1.50 - £2.50 each so they make great pocket money purchases or stocking fillers.
I originally started Molly Coddle’s in January 2010 as a nappy cake company after making them for friends & family but quickly realised that after securing 3 shops to stock them it was unnecessary to continue to take the cakes to Craft Markets that I attend on a regular basis. So towards the end of 2010 I slowly started to trial a range of gifts made from felt which have been incredibly successful.
Do you personally hand make all your items or do you also have help?
95% of what I sell is handmade by me at Poundfield Cottage, the other 5% is down to my Husband! I tend to rely on him to create the wire legs for our cute little birds as I’m terrible at making the feet! He’s also great at cutting out templates as I don’t currently use a die cutter for my work.
How can you be contacted?
I love to receive tweets (@molly_coddles) it’s one of my guilty pleasures which tends to hamper my creative flow if I’m feeling talkative! Otherwise my email address is [email protected]
Anything you would like to add/message to customers?
My favourite part of running my business is networking at Craft Markets, it’s a great way to get help & support from likeminded people as well as meet some of our customers face to face. You tend to get very honest feedback too, so be prepared to hear the good as well as the not so good!
